The Temple Institute, located in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, is the place to go to learn about the past and future temple. The Institute is both an educational and religious organization focusing on the rebuilding of the temple as well as educating the public on its history.

Taking into account instructions in scripture, priestly garments and temple vessels including musical instruments, the golden menorah, utensils and the table of showbread have been recreated according to the biblical requirements. These items are on display along with oil painting demonstrating daily life in the Temple have been commissioned for the Institute.

The exhibition halls of the Temple Institute feature vessels and instruments constructed for use in the rebuilt Holy Temple; a 25-minute audio-visual presentation; scale models of the Second Temple, the outer altar and the Ark of the Covenant; original oil paintings portraying daily life in the Holy Temple; and the “Hebrew Artists House” gift shop, specializing in publications, films, and educational materials about the Holy Temple.

Hours and Admission

The Temple Institute’s exhibition halls are open Sunday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Guided tours are available for groups, but reservations should be made in advance.

Entrance fee: 25 shekels. Children and senior citizens: 20 shekels. Guided tours are an additional 70 shekels for groups less than 20 participants. For group rates or reservations, contact: reservations@templeinstitute.org
