Petition in Support of Israel

To: President Barack Obama

Dear Mr. President:

As a Christian I strongly support the nation of Israel as a partial fulfillment of God’s covenant promise for a national homeland for the Jewish people.

Thus, I am very concerned about the crisis created by the attacks on Israel by you and your administration regarding Israel’s decision to build additional housing for Jews in Ramat Shlomo, a part of Jewish north Jerusalem. Israel’s action has been deemed an insult to American peace efforts.

The real insult however is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s charge that Israel must show a new seriousness toward achieving peace. Mr. President, no nation, including the United States, has made a more concentrated effort than Israel, since its re-birth in 1948 to establish peace. This includes giving massive lands back to the Arabs and Palestinians after they suffered defeats from their failed attacks on Israel. Sadly, Arab aggression has been rewarded by giving back many of these lands. Yet there is still no peace.

Israel is the only country in the region we can trust – it alone shares the basic democratic values of the Judeo-Christian heritage. If there is ever a Palestinian state it will be just like all Islamic ruled states – an apartheid state opposed to freedom of religion and freedom of speech. The Palestinian goal is not peace but the replacement and destruction of the modern State of Israel, with a Palestinian state in its place.

I urge you Mr. President to cease and desist this offensive diatribe against Israel and instruct your subordinates to do likewise. Otherwise, the real enemies of peace will only be emboldened to demand more concessions from Israel and the United States. Thus any contained peace will be delayed even further.
