Original Art Work by Pat Mercer Hutchens

Sabbath 2010 original artwork Pat Mercer Hutchens

Fit to work

Suggested Donation: $75

From the artist: “These Jewish women were dragged from their homes and herded like sardines into trains to Auschwitz. Once they arrived, everything they had brought with them was taken away and thrown into huge piles. Men were separated from the women and children. Women were then divided into ‘fit to work’ and ‘unfit to work’ lines. The ‘unfit to work’ were taken to be gassed and burned. Those considered ‘fit to work’ were taken to an area to process them. Their hair was crudely chopped off. They were sent in groups to shower rooms. They were deloused by having lime poured over their whole body. They were given sack dresses and scarves. These three women were standing among a large group waiting for the next orders. The first one is obviously pregnant and traumatized. The second appears to be praying. The third clutches the top of her blouse as if to recover some degree of dignity while she stares around in unbelief.”

This is an archival print by Pat Mercer Hutchens, one of a series being offered through TJCI to remember and honor those who perished in the Holocaust. Pat is particularly zooming in on the women and the children.

Mother and Babies At Auschwitz

Suggested Donation: $75

To commemorate Yom Hashoah, The Jerusalem Connection presents the first of a series of paintings motivated by the Auschwitz Album. Pat Mercer Hutchens is working on a series of paintings in response to seeing the photos recently found and presented to Yad VaShem (Holocaust Museum) in Israel.

From the artist: "Because of the insane time in which we live, when people actually have the gall to deny the horrors of the Holocaust, I feel absolutely compelled to present evidence to the contrary. These innocents sitting among the crowds of the Nazi-condemned, these real life women and children stir my heart. By zooming in on individuals and small family groups, by trying to grasp how it feels to be hated not for what you have done, but for who you are and what you believe, we humanize them and feel for them as we would for a friend, a neighbor or family member who perished. Although it is difficult to experience the depths of sorrow they felt for the life of their little ones cut short by a madman and his cold hearted followers, I do know well the heart of a loving, protective mother who would gladly give every bone in her body to save her babies. May their God and ours use these paintings for His eternal purposes."

Shabbat

Suggested Donation: $100

Make a $100 donation to The Jerusalem Connection and receive this giclee archival print by Pat Mercer Hutchens. Some believe Shabbat (the Sabbath) is the most important holiday in the Bible, the one day of the week when believers stop their work, seek to honor God and meditate on spiritual issues, and, well, to shabbat, rest. This painting contains the beautiful kneaded Challah bread which is traditional for Shabbat, a bottle of kosher wine with the word Tikveh (Hope), and a traditional white and blue prayer shawl which has written on it in Hebrew “Blessed be the One who gave us Shabbat.” The menorah has two lions, signifying the lion of Judah and the lion of Ephraim. We pray this artwork will be a joy and a blessing to you as you “remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.”

Father Make a way artwork

Father Make a way

Suggested Donation: $100

Make a $100 donation to The Jerusalem Connection and receive this giclee archival print by Pat Mercer Hutchens. In the picture, Father Abraham reaches back to assist his beloved Isaac, who, while innocently lagging behind, totally trusts his father. Isaac's curly locks are properly covered with an Israeli kepah, while he carries on his own back a little pile of kindling wood for the fire. To the right, a huge tree with two leaves for the "healing of the nations," tenaciously grips the earth, while at the top of that tree the two limbs offer the only two paths to take when God calls – "yes" or "no." Below that tree are a few stalks of wheat with seedlings growing naturally in the shape of a menorah (light), inspired from the verse, "Unless a grain of wheat fall on the ground and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies, it produces much fruit. He who loves his life will lose it and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life." (John 12:24)

This painting was moved and inspired by the words of the prophet, Hosea: “I will be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I will tear and walk away; I will take away and there will be no one to deliver. I will go, returning unto my place - until they are ashamed and they seek my face. In their affliction they will seek me early.” “Come, let us return unto Yahweh. It’s true - He has torn - but He will heal us. He struck us with His own hand - but He will bind us up” (Hosea 5:14-6:1).

The Good Samaritan Original Artwork

The Good Samaritan

Suggested Donation: $100

Make a $100 donation to The Jerusalem Connection ministry and receive this personally signed print of original artwork by Pat Mercer Hutchens. The Good Samaritan depicts the story from Luke 10:30. There are three cut stumps in the foreground. The man beaten and left to die was obviously cut down. The men walking off into a stormy distant were cut down too, but by their own actions. Their shadows are lengthening as they walk into a stormy, dark, desolate place. Even the single tree on the right naturally points upward toward God, but is unnoticed by the humans. On the left side of the painting is the actual building with the lone shade tree at its side — as it is found today at the place of the Good Samaritan in Israel. Notice the inn keeper looking out from the door and even the sheep stand huddled together in safety at the Inn, with one lone sheep coming over the far hill to the safe place. The growing corn on the left side speaks of resurrection and redemption and should be a perpetual reminder that there is always hope for restoration by turning back to God.

Pat says, "This work was put in my heart as a result of living and working in Jerusalem and being inspired by these verses from the Bible: (1) Psalm 125:1,2 (2) Micah 5:2, "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting."

Guilty Book

Guilty!

by James and Patty Hutchens (personally signed copy)

Suggested Donation: $30

Yes, we are Guilty! We are guilty of being Christian Zionists. We are guilty of trying the best we knew at the time to identify with the Jewish people. We are guilty of having a passion for activating God's covenant of love for His treasured possession. We are guilty of loving Israel in a way that only dimly reflects God's eternal love for them. We are guilty of weeping over the Land and people as Jesus did. This book is our heartfelt letter of love to Israel; we are Christians for Israel!

Each letter of the Hebrew alphabet was first a picture with a purpose, a drawing with meaning. Yes, there are codes in the Bible. They go back to the beginnings, to Egyptian hieroglyphs and to Phoenician, Middle Eastern and Hebrew alphabets, from which most languages emerged. For seekers or anyone interested in origins, alphabets or the Bible, Hebrew for the Goyim is the book for you. Sales help support the ministries of TJCI.
